History

While living in the Netherlands it occurred to me that I hadn't seen the traditional Welcome Slate hanging by anyone's door. Perhaps I could fill that void! With the help of my Dutch teacher I came up with a few Dutch-themed images: a flying Dutch angel, a tulip, a row of canal houses and their beloved Sinterklaas and his side-kick Zwarte Piet.

I entered a few holiday boutiques in Amsterdam and quickly began receiving orders.

I've now hand-painted over 500 original slates that are welcoming folks to homes all around the world. I've been asked to create images that relate to a wide variety of cultures.

I'm still available to create something very special for folks who want to add a warm welcome to their entry-way, kitchen, child's room or office. You can see more of my slate designs under PORTFOLIO: SLATES.
